Becky Lynch: The Man

The Man speaks out!

WWE superstar Becky Lynch chronicles her path from the independent circuit, to main eventing professional wrestling’s biggest stage – Wrestlemania. Lynch states she wishes Becky Lynch was more like Rebecca Quin, but with the assistance of her journals, shares her personal experiences in and out of the ring, revealing her pursuit of a WWE contract. Lynch details how wrestling truly changed her life.

Lynch reveals that she was drawn to wrestling by watching the ever unpredictable Mick Foley. She entered wrestling school, but her matches were scarce in the beginning as Lynch was the only girl in her class. Lynch stayed the course by valeting, and eventually was booked to wrestle in Japan. Despite some early success, she took a break from wrestling and pondered a future outside the squared circle.

Her wrestling journey was validated by receiving a WWE try out match, which led to signing a developmental deal. In “Becky Lynch: The Man” she recounts her days training with the likes of “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Norman Smiley, and former DX member, Billy Gunn, among others. I appreciated Lynch’s honesty in the book, sharing her early struggles under a WWE contract, including the passing of Rhodes during her NXT stint.

Lynch opens up on her budding romance with Seth Rollins. Lynch and Rollins were friends and colleague, but realized they had developed feelings for each other. Additionally, Lynch discusses informing her boss Vince McMahon that she was pregnant. Dating a UFC fighter, realizing it just wasn’t meant to be. Developing “The Man” moniker, WWE’s all women’s event, injuries, and her thoughts on working with MMA legend Ronda Rousey.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Becky Lynch: The Man” and recommend it!
