The information presented is mind blogging, as Attwood’s research is meticulous. This book accurately demonstrates how deep the rabbit hole of corruption truly goes. The chapter “Cartel Pilot’s deathbed confession” is chilling, and was only published after his passing per his request. The author outlines the connections between the CIA and drugs/arms smuggling.
The cover ups include the likely murder of investigative journalist Gary Webb, a CIA whistleblower, made to look like a suicide. Teenagers Don Henry and Kevin Ives saw too much in Arkansas, what is believed to have been a drug drop in Arkansas. Attwood traces the war on hemp, resulting in numerous deaths and a culture of long sentences for victimless crimes.
